Default What tpe of packaging was around gold box tools and early blue boxes?

Does anyone know what type of packaging was used for the tool set on post war pre-model guns that came in the gold boxes?

I know that all the late 1960's, 1970's and some 1980's gun tools came wrapped in clear plastic.

But I have never seen what type of packaging came with tools in the gold boxes.

What about early blue boxes with long tapered fluted screw drivers.

Was it clear plastic also - or a cloth sack or ?

I 've never seen it.

Does anyone have a picture of what it looks like?

I believe that the tools were rolled up in a tan tissue paper. I cannot lay my hands on a photo right now...

Not really an answer as it came in blue pre-BP box but if original (and I believe that it is) a recent M17-1 that I acquired had the tan paper as pictured and with a ship date of 02-62.

Thanks guys!

I learned something new about factory shipped tools.

Is it safe to say that the plastic bag started with the switch to fluted screw drivers?

Has anyone seen a "long tapered" fluted screw driver shipped in a plastic bag?

Pictures please...

I have a fluted. long taper SAT along with a 4" cleaning rod and a long mop tip that all came in a wax paper type bag as received. I believe that to be correct around 1962.

Here's a picture of one of my K22's that shipped in September 1952. It came with the tools wrapped in the paper that they are laying on. I'm assuming it's how the tools shipped with the gun shipped since I bought it from the original owner who said he kept everything together from when he bought it new.
