Factory Refinished Triple Lock
I am done lurking and am ready to dive in.
A slot I'd love to fill is the Triple Lock. Looking at one that is factory refinished. The grips are walnut and look correct and are in excellent shape. Can't tell what the internals look like but I doubt it has been beat up if the grips are any indication of how well the gun was cared for. Can't tell for sure.
Not much to compare as far as completed sales on GB. Hope they are less expensive than a Python or Registered Magnum. Any idea of what such refinished TL have been selling for? Of course no box or papers.
I would want to shoot it at least once in a while.
Thanks in advance for any information.

Photos and more information is needed. Barrel length? Letter? Target? Details make the difference.

Triple Lock
I bought one last year in about the condition that you describe for $800 off GB. Gold medallion grips are in about fine+ condition and all numbers match including the grips. It is not factory re-plated although it came from the factory in nickel. Caliber is 44spl.

Sorry, no photos. Barrel is 6.5 and they are service stocks. No letter either.

Check out this thread:
TRIPLE-LOCKS--POST YOURS!
Post #35 are my TL's. I'll look up prices and send you a PM. The first one is believed to be early 1950's factory refinish, the nickel .455 is aftermarket refinish, and the ratty looking shooter is original finish.

I've been looking for one also to fill a gap in my safe. So far haven't seen/ found one that matches my wallet.

I've always had in the back of my mind that I would like to own a Triple Lock as well. But like you, I've never been able to match availability and wallet to own one either. FWIW, I've just been able to get MY safe open for the first time in a few weeks (combination problems) so this would be a good time for me to put opportunity in place to add one.

Hey Froggie, my dad fixed his combination problems with my Granddad's store safe by writing the combo on the front in pencil.

I paid $1500 for my twice (at least) factory refinished, sights modified, magna equipped, Triple lock. If it's a factory refinish, and the re-finish was done pre-war, they are still pretty easily a 1500 dollar gun.
But.
A ton of things start to eat into that price.
A post war pre-70's refinish is worth less. A post 70's can be worth a lot less. If the grips are not numbered to the gun or refinished, lower price.
Then there is the current state of the refinish, and how harsh the re-finish happens to be. If the gun was in really rough shape before it was re-finished it could eat into the price again.
The best advice I can give you without pictures is that you need to buy the gun for a price that you are comfortable with, even if you over paid. If you are happy with the gun at whatever you paid you will be fine. If you look at that price and cringe a little bit? Just don't do it. A good example will come along, there are quite a few triple locks out there despite it sometimes feeling like there aren't.
