Is the Victory Base thread still open?
I am looking to buy a Victory on GunBroker and would like to know if there was any history from serial number and limited info I have before bidding.

Yes, the Victory Model Database is alive and well. Post your compete serial and I will take a look at the DB for you. Please also give the barrel length, caliber, stocks type, finish, left top strap markings, if any, and any post-factory mods or markings.

Looking for help
I'm looking for any info on a serial number V75857. It's a .38 which I believe my father had in WW II. Thanks for any help. I'm new to this forum.

Welcome. A bit more info would be helpful. If you specify .38 S&W or .38 S&W SPECIAL, and/or provide the barrel length measured from the cylinder, you’ll get more precise answers. Also, where and in what manner did your father serve?

Serial # V158160. Appears to be 5in barrel. 38s&w. has aftermarket grips. No top strap markings. Appears to have been blued.

Halsem:
Your serial of V158160 does not appear in the Victory Model Database. However, I can estimate for you that it likely shipped in the November-December 1942 time frame.
