Default new to me Victory Model(now with lanyard)

a little cosmetically challenged but all matching including grips. bright bore and chambers. no end shake and locks up tight on all six holes. U S PROPERTY GHD on the left top strap. it was in between some much nicer, much over priced smiths at a LGS I stop at twice a year and it looked so lonely(and the only one I could afford) I adopted it. it is missing the lanyard ring but I will find one. V676832. Ordanceguy says probably Aug-Sep of 44 time frame. enjoy. lee

Looks like you found a relatively little used one, based on the good condition of the stocks. The somewhat mottled appearance of the finish, which also got to the case-coloring on the hammer and trigger, is likely attributable mostly to storage in an unkind environment. Does it have the property stamping on top signifying a military-shipped gun?

I edited the post to include the property marking on the top strap. you are right about the poor storage. lee

How about a couple of pictures after you have had a chance to clean it up? I would have adopted it too.

Lee, really nice. I have a lend lease (Aussie) Victory but, of course, it's .38 S&W. Wish I could find a decent .38 S&W Special. Let us know how it shoots. Was in Reno last weekend and got a lot of comments on a S&W belt buckle I was wearing!

Verah nice. My V650093 shipped 8/44 and stayed in Germany for a bit after the war.

I may have asked you this before; is that still the original finish and matching stocks? The orangy light and reflections make it a bit hard to be sure

Shipping sequences can be interesting during 1944. My BSR V604454 (so almost 50,000 guns before yours) also shipped 8/44, but my US Victory V626880 not until 6/45.

"but my US Victory V626880 not until 6/45"
Which of course was long after the SV series began in early 1945. It must have gotten stuck in traffic.

There must be more to the story, actually. I may do a post about the details some time. I have the invoice. 400 guns in that shipment. Identifiable because the PD stamped them. I’ve found references to seven others like mine in old threads and other forums; ALL had serials in the mid-600-thousands, so 1944 production. Peculiar.

Looks complete now. Was about to put it on report for being out of uniform.

Nope. The stocks are Victory stocks but not from this revolver. The hammer and trigger are chromed and I'm pretty sure the revolver has been refinished. Pretty good job though as the Victory markings are still visible. It is a .38SW as well.
