Default New Acquisition- Help with Date

Can anyone help narrow down the ship date on this one? Serial number C10755. Thanks in advance.

The SCSW says '48 to '51 in broad terms. I would hazard a guess that yours would be in the 1948-49 range but only a letter will tell for sure as they didn't ship by serial number. That is certainly a very fine example of the breed and thanks for sharing. I hope you take the opportunity to shoot and enjoy it.

Jerry

Thanks, Jerry. I saw that in the Catalog as well. I was kind of hoping one of the guys with the personal databases would come along with a little closer estimate. It’s definitely a shooter, and as nice as it is, im not “collector” enough to just leave it in the safe . Thanks and regards,
Doug

C10755 almost certainly was assembled in the first year of the C prefix, 1948. It appears that at least 45,000 were built that year, starting in March. I show C33967 shipping in November, 1948.

It could have shipped later, but there is a very good chance it left the factory in 1948. Demand was high at that time, and they were moving out the door at a pretty good clip.

Thanks! I appreciate the info. For its age, I’m amazed at the condition.

C10755

Closest SN on my list is C85xx which shipped in 7/48. It would be a first year production C-series M&P. AKA a pre-Model 10 M&P.
