ok, I do not know what it is
A friend brought over a broken pistol last night. I have no good idea what it is . It is a Smith and wesson .380, I'd say about a 3.5" barrel, medium size. The works reminds me of a Walther PPK, except the barrel comes out (spring around the barrel, etc) any help to help me figure out what this is, greatly appreciated. It has a busted trigger the trigger and trigger bar kind of remind me of my shield. It is a tricky devil to get back together, I was hoping I could find a youtube, but, all it brings up is a bodyguard and this sure does not look like one. the gun is in sorry shape and we cannot make out the serial number.

Reason: I forgot to mention it is a. smith and wesson manufactured in springfield. It really does belong in S&W pistols section.

1 picture is worth more than a description if you are looking for an identification.

And. If it is not a Smith & Wesson. It was posted in the wrong place.
It can be a number of things. At least 3 come to mind. So, pictures please, so someone can help you.

A Mauser HSC was my first thought but pictures could reveal it is a number of other pistols. The HSC had a distinctive frame shape that sloped downward from the front to the bottom of the trigger guard. Unlike the Walther PP while cocked its thumb safety could be set on safe.

Could be a FN 1910, an Ortgies, a Mauser HSC just to name a few.

There are many pistols that resemble Walthers. For example a Combloc Makarov is very close in appearance.

The only clue we have is removeable barrel. Makarov is out as the direct clones of the Walther PP.

Didn't S&W have some connection To Walther 20yr ago? Other
than that the Sigma would be 1st 380---?

If the spring is around the barrel and the barrel comes out, I suspect the gun is more broken than you think. I cannot name any pistol like that.

Is it an S&W Sigma .380?
The recoil-spring-around-barrel sounds more like a Lorcin...
Jennings...Raven...FIE...etc etc, though the barrel should
not readily detach from the frame (but considering the build
quality of those pistols, anything is possible). Can't seem to
attach the diagram, but you can search it up.

Reason: Add the carptastic Lorcin, as possible candidate.

I think I did say in my edited version, that it says S&W on one side, on the other, it says Springfield Mass. Let me clarify, the barrel only comes out when you remove the forward roll pin.

It was moved by I guess an admin. It is a S&W and that is why I posted it where I did.
