Default So I have had this 1926 for a few years.

It is refinished but it was shipped to W&K in 1928 in nickel. Don't recall what stocks were on it when I got it but I didn't like them. I hate the old "Service" type and usually put Magnas on my old guns for shooting comfort. But the grip frame on early N frames isn't exactly the same as the later ones so stocks often don't fit perfectly. A vexing situation.

Last year I saw a Gunbroker auction for a pair of genuine ivory stocks. The seller said they were for a S&W but he wasn't sure which frame size. Said he'd tried them on K frames and N frames and they didn't seem to fit either correctly. So, he started them at a very cheap $65. I got them with one bid. Yup, made for the pre-war N frame. They fit my 1926 perfectly. He he he.

Ooops. Wrong photo.

Default Very Nice, Great Shooter

Very nice! My 4" nickel 1926 HE was one of the 1927 shipment to W&K. Mine was also refinished, but only after a previous owner had added a S&W ribbed top strap and ramp front sight to the barrel (similar to the Registered Magnum/.357 Magnum). I had Pat Grashorn make me some elk stag stocks for it, and he mentioned that he would use a 1917 frame for fitting the stocks rather than an N-frame. I didn't realize that there was that much difference in the frames, but it explains why your ivories fit so well. Enjoy!

Looks like a M&P K frame from the angle of the picture. What caliber is stamped on the barrel?

That is a post WW II short action revolver. Look at the hammer, the front sight and the lack of the hammer stud under the cylinder release.

Actually, some rods had LH threads as early as 1958.

Default Ooops...

Hahaha...funny! I blew right past the revolver in the picture and focused just on the stocks. Didn't really notice it was a 10-7 until it was pointed out by the Members and confirmed by Art Doc. I should have known because I have a very similar 6" nickel .38 M&P (pre-Model 10) with MOP stocks. Now that the proper picture was uploaded, the 1926 HE is nice- as are those stocks.
