hello again, this is V702565, my first post would only add 5 pictures, bought both of these Victories today, from a older gentleman, both handguns where very well taken care of. un-like the other victory SW, this Victory has no extra stamping.

Hi and welcome!
You have a Lend/Lease British Service Revolver, probably produced in the final quarter of 1944. One of our Victory experts might be able to give you a closer date estimate.
I agree this one looks pretty nice. Good acquisition. Congrats.

Is it also in original .38 S&W (stamped on the barrel) and not re-chambered for .38 Special? Without proof stamps it probably found its way here via some returning GI after WWII. Maybe a trade for a carton of Lucky Strikes. V702565 probably shipped around October 1944. As I previously said, the collector interest in an original and un-proofed BSR would be somewhat more than your other Victory which is proof stamped. They just don't show up often. BTW, both your guns are Lend-Lease, i.e., the USA loaned (actually gave) them to the British. That's what the topstrap property stamping means.

Welcome to the forum given the condition of this one, and your other one you did just fine, and maybe better. The British Service Revolvers (BSR) are seldom seen in such a nice condition as this one is!

As you might be aware, the fate of many of the BSRs imported into the USA back in the 1950s and 1960s was grim. Their barrels were cut off to 2", their chambers were reamed to .38 Special, they were often given a crude blued finish (and some a nickel plating), and fitted with a cheap pair of plastic grips. They were usually sold mail order in the $30 price range. That's why finding a BSR in original or near-original (with proof marks) condition is uncommon, and why collectors like them. You won't lose anything on what you paid for the two you have.
