Just picked up this Model 18 four screw.
This is my first model 18, and my first 4 screw. Can anyone enlighten me on an approximate ship date and what would be the correct box for it? Is it the gold box or the blue with silver border? I found this at a local gun show for what I think was a reasonable price, I just don't know much about the 18s. This one is a solid 98% with serial numbered stocks and a beautiful blue finish. Also, I would be interested in any thoughts on value.

The catalog lists model marking starting in 1957 and the 18-1's starting in 1959. If you can post most of the serial number I am sure someone will be by and give you better info.
By the way, nice Model 18.

Looks like 1958 according to the Standard Catalog. Where I shop it would be priced around $700-$800. Since you just bought it you probably have the best handle on current prices. Enjoy.

Really nice revolver and 58 is right on. Value, the catalog says very good at 600 and excellent at 750 - now you be the judge. I have an 18-3 and really enjoy it. I put Arhernd grips on mine.

And at $500 I would have been a buyer easily. Any of the model 18s are handy dandy 22 revolvers, easy packing and great shooting.

Just picked up this Model 18 four screw.
Nice find!
A 2 piece blue box would be correct for this gun.
Here is one I picked up about a year ago. It came with its original stocks but I threw these stags on it, not sure they will stay though.
(Any blueing loss is just the terrible lighting and sub par photography skills)
