Recent Purchase - K-22 Outdoorsman w/ King Sights
Just picked this K-22 Outdoorsman, 1st model I think, the other day. Serial number is 668287. Can anybody help me out with a ship date? All numbers match minus the grips. They are definitely not correct. Going to replace them with appropriate stocks later on. Front and rear sights are Kings. Has a bit of wear on it but has some character. My first Outdoorsman but more than likely not my last. Thanks for looking.
I apologize for the orientation of the pictures. I rotated them and saved them and they still posted this way...

Very nice, I would letter it, maybe it went directly to King. SN range was 632124-682419 1931-1940 approx. 19,500 mfg. If you have a chance, would like to see a picture of topstrap. I think King rear required widening the cut in topstrap.

Hard to beat an Outdoorsman, much less one with King sights!
There are some nice Sanderson target stocks in the classified sections that would look great on it...

I like it.
But then I love most any King gun
I can see why one might have a King sight installed. The factory rear sight is so small. Not so much a big deal until the 50s start messing with your eyes.
Interesting the customer stayed with a patridge type front sight.

My K22 is # 672996, a little higher than yours. Mine was shipped 9-29-1938. Big Larry

Tony,
You’ve just acquired one of the finest guns to ever roll off S&W’s assembly line. The King mods are way cool. I would imagine that your gun will be a tack driver and a ton of fun to shoot. Congrats and thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the topstrap pic. Other than a Super-Target, I don't remember seeing a King rear on a K-22. It's such a superior sight to the S&W. Be sure and give us a Range Report!
