Here's one I've only seen in pictures, now I have one to play with. Appears to have spent it's life in a sock drawer, looks unfired. One side looks better than the other but I bet it still shoots good! Bore is perfect.
Looks better in person than in these pics. The serial # is 7975 which I think puts it just out of the "antique" category. Anybody confirm that?

ALL M1896s are considered BATFE antiques.

Decent specimen with a blue finish are less commonly found than the nickel version.

As DWalt says, they’re all antiques. The pertinent ATF document can be found somewhere on the forum here.

The argument in favor of antique status is based on the apparent fact that the frames were all produced in 1896/97, and then finished and shipped, in completely random serial order, until at least 1903.
