Default Price check on 1917

A buddy of mine picked this up yesterday for $300, some guys have all the luck. It’s missing the original grips, and has been factory nickeled at some point. I know it was worth the $300 but he wants a ballpark figure as to what it’s worth, for when he shows it to his wife. I figured it’s worth $500-$600. I know it’s not original but atleast it a factory nickel job. He says the timing is spot on, I figured it was reworked when it was sent back. So what say the experts? Is he sleeping in the dog house for a week or two?

Is it stamped on the grip frame under the grips?

I doubt the nickel plating is factory, but if those are real staghorn grips, it's worth what you figured it's worth. Assuming there is nothing else wrong with it.

What's the repair/rework date stamp on the left grips frame ? I would put it, at least, in the value ranges cited above. Ed.
