For me, it would be a registered magnum 3 1/2" shipped to Frank Hamer.....ok, now in the real world it would be a Model 19 blue with 4" and 2 1/2'' bbl. I started in law enforcement with them and still enjoy a trip to the range with them. As the bad guys armed themselves with better weapons, I moved to a 1911 in 45 acp and stayed with it to retirement.

Suppose I'll weigh in. 5" 27ish guns sure are pretty, but mine was a 98% gun and I just couldn't bring myself to shoot it. 19ish ones are probably the perfect carry wheelgun, my 2.5 inchers spend a lot of time with me. My favorites, though, are 28ish ones. First years are smooth as glass, easy to shoot, and will last forever.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but for many the standard of comparison when it comes to fit, finish and function of .357 revolvers is the Python.

There have been many beautiful, high quality .38/.357 revolvers available from well know makers over the years, and forum members ( including yours truly) have owned, and still own and cherish most of them. But IMHO, I believe the S&W 686, like this 686-4, delivers the finest combination of positive attributes of all others and at a very reasonable $ outlay.

Yes it is
Pythons could be ordered with optional Eliason rear and Patridge front sights installed in the Colt Custom Shop

The favorite one that I own - a 3-1/2" mint 27-2. The favorite one that I don't own yet but hope to one day, any 5" or shorter Registered Magnum.
