I'm guessing if the barrel came off an M27 / pre-27.

It's a cut-down 6". It is stamped "Highway Patrolman".

Is it just me or does the top of the barrel not seem to match the top of the frame?

I guess I like the hyway patrolman guns so much because when I was a kid I lived next door to a retired hyway patrol man and he was also my dads best friend and did the range reloads and minor armourer work for the local PD and county sheriff office .He did this trick where you could stand behind him and take his hat ( he always wore a felt hat) and toss it over his head and he would draw his hywaypatrolman revolver and catch that hat before it hit the ground .I use to bet my buddies he could do it and I never lost he sorta made me a local legend with the kids as he would let me hold that revolver and show it to them ( unloaded ) but I was the only one to touch it .I told his daughter that story at her dads funeral she had no idea her dad was such a hero to numerous kids and several got in law enforcement because of his guidance . Man what great memories . Thanks for posting
