My new to me M27 no dash. Serial number dates to 1959 (S200xxx). Unfortunately doesn't have the original diamond target grips:

Wrong grips, sacrilege! Wink. A real beauty. You will find some period targets.

Have you lettered it? It probably shipped with diamond Magnas. A letter should also tell you if it came with a target trigger.

Too bad about the grips.
Shooting it a lot will make you feel better
That's what I do with this 5" Pre-27 wearing eBay Diamond Magna's

Yes I didn't mean to say targets someone else pointed that out. I did order a pair of the replica diamond targets from Altamont and hope to find a set of the originals. Haven't got a letter yet but I think I will.

I haven't lettered mine but serial # is S1646xx. Also my favorite revolver. Just something about the balance and feel of the 5" N frame.

Got my letter back on this gun and it has a ship date of Apr 6 1962. I thought it was a 1959. Seems odd as the 27-2 was out for a year at that time.
Does “checkered walnut grips” mean magnas?

Yes. If it were shipped with target grips, the letter would have specified that. Still a great find!

Good I have a nice set of diamond magnas to go on it. Still perplexed about the ship date. Did this gun get lost in the factory for 3 years?

Did the letter say anything about the target trigger?

No it doesn’t I was going to ask because it looks like it has target trigger and hammer and I understood the letter would state if it shipped with those. If so maybe they were upgraded later?
The letter is posted with the pictures in my other thread.
