Went to an auction today as they had a pre 29 6 1/2", correct target stocks and box (SN -S164k). The original pictures were not good. However, after finally seeing it, appeared to be in great shape with really only a turn line to mention.
I was all set to bid, until i saw the ported barrel. I was turned off and made no bids. Wanted a collectable piece. It eventually sold for $1,400.
Curious if anyone would have placed a bid on this.
If the presentation case was correct and had the tools, it alone is probably worth 5-700. If the grips were the correct "cokes" they were probably worth 4-600 depending on condition. . FWIW.
I can't argue with Randy about the worth of the parts, but I'm not into buying "parts" guns and then trying to sell them.
I have to agree with you....I would have walked away from it.

Sounds like I stopped at the same auction Friday morning, Pre 29 with ported barrel, cokes looked ok, box was in decent shape except for material changed in the bottom, no tools. The porting turned me off and I left before the bidding even started. Spent my day doing something else I enjoyed.
