Yeah, I'm an Abba fan too. Looks like Model 10 from the late 1950's. If it doesn't have M10 inside the yoke, it's a pre-model 10 from before they started using model numbers. Looks like it's in nice shape from what I can see in the picture. Probably a $400 gun give or take.

That is a pre model 10 you got there. I recently bought one in nickel a little older than yours. The c prefix began in 1948 so yours is probably early 50's. Looks to be in nice shape. Technically it's a 38 special M&P postwar but that same gun in 1957 was then marked mod 10. Somebody else that has lettered thier gun may be able to pin the date down a little better. Enjoy

It’s a post-war (WWII) Militaty & Police revolver from the mid to late 1950’s. I’m sure others will be along shortly to narrow it down.

The photos aren’t the greatest, but...
The sideplate gap is obvious and the screw holes look dished out, so I’s guess that the gun has been refinished at some point. Probably not by the factory.

My 5" M & P has a serial number of C1847XX - when I posted on here a few years ago when I purchased it, I was told that mine probably shipped early in 1952 - if that helps any.

Nice looking M & P!

A good guess would be sometime in the first half of 1957 (ship date). Keep in mind it is only a guess, since a letter is required for certainty.

However, I show numbers on either side of yours that shipped in January and June, 1957. So, of course, it won't have a model number.

I agree. It has been refinished.

I think conventional wisdom has it that the model numbers started somewhere in the 420s/430s in 1958 on this model.

It might be fun sometime to see who has the lowest number with a MOD 10 or the lowest without.

I've got C412004 with no stamp even though Roy lettered it as a Model 10, maybe due to its late ship date in Jan. 1959.
