Default Courting a K-22

I've got my eyes on a 4 screw K-22. Am I right in assuming this was made before the Model number assigned to guns in late 57. But after the elimination of the 5th screw on the side plate in 56. So it was probably built in early 1957..Gun is $775 so not out of line for a 95%+ revolver with Matching Magna's

Without a serial number and confirmation that there is no model number (17) stamped on the frame in the yoke cut, we cannot confirm what you surmise. It is certainly possible. But the Model 17 (with no dash number) were also four screw revolvers, as were Model 17-1 revolvers.

Incidentally, as far as we know there were no Model 17 K-22 Masterpiece revolvers shipped until 1958.

And yes, from your description I don't think it is overpriced, model numbered or otherwise.

Based upon your description, it does not seem to be overpriced.
That said, for that amount of money, I would give it a good inspection prior to handing over the cash.

I have a 4 screw no model mark 6" K22. Think the range of time for these is pretty narrow. But, remember S&W did nothing all at once. Some model marked and non marked guns were probably finished during the same time period.

It looks worthwhile for that price. From some very nearby SNs on my list (no model numbers on them either), I'd say yours shipped in the 12/57-1/58 period. No box/papers/tools?

Probably correct on the second one. K311xxx shipped in January, 1958.

K283xxx most likely was serialized in 1956. Whether it shipped that year is another matter.
