Pre model 36 LOL
Well, I don't know if its good or bad yet. Won this auction.
https://www.gunbroker.com/item/777723381
Know its not a premodel 36 cause its not a 38 special. More like a premodel 30. But with a 5 digit serial number would it be an I frame.
I have some how gathered up a few 32s ranging from single action spur triggers, double action top breaks both hammerless and with hammers, a couple I frames, a model 31 and a 16-4. Looking for a nice K32, but wow are sellers proud of them.
32 are tons of fun to shoot and casting and reloading cheaper than 22lr. Primer cost more than anything else. Primer .03 powder .01 even if you bought the lead for $2 a lb each bullet would only be .025. Brass last forever but say .02 a shot. .085 per or $8.50 a 100.

Sure looks to me like a good buy. I been searching for something in 32 or 32 long myself. Reloading makes it a cheap propisition and like you said ,I have read so many good reports about shooting the round. I am looking forward to some pics after you get it home and all cleaned up. Cleaning these old beauties for the first time is one of my favorites jobs. They usually come out so well!

I vote "good" . Definitely a six-round cylinder, pre-model 30 with the round butt frame.
Looking forward to the after cleanup photos - rare is the online seller who actually delivers a clean, lubricated firearm.

Looks to me to be a 6 digit serial number. Either 505572 or 606572.
You have to look really close, not the best photos.

At 3 Benjies this was a good buy. I hope you enjoy it.
I wonder how anyone could conclude that a revolver chambered for the .32 S&W Long is a"pre-36!" I guess he didn't do any research before he posted this for sale.

Even with its six-digit sn it was a good buy.
506572 is what I'm seeing.
My 538045 shipped in March '50. I'd almost bet your new one is a 3", but it could be a 3¼" I suppose. The seller is no more a photographer than a researcher.
Enjoy.

I make it out to be 606572 and it would have to be. 506xxx would be a pre war 1930's thru 1941 ship date. I've seen pre war built guns shipped after the war but they're scarce and this one doesn't have pre war features.
Although most likely produced in 1952, sales on these slowed down once the 38 Chiefs Spl was introduced. From other serial #s near it with confirmed ship dates, it likely shipped in 1953 or 54.
It's a good buy on a ".32 HE post war Improved I frame - 2nd Version" with the ramp front sight and barrel rib. One design change too early to be a Pre Model, that would be the 32 HE Model of 1953 New I frame.
But I actually prefer these smaller .32s and they are a lot of fun to shoot.
Congrats!

SS, Congratulations on winning the auction. I also bid on this revolver. I look forward to you sharing pictures once you have cleaned her up.

Sorry I took it out of your hands. I won't bid against you on the next one.
Funny bidding story. I told my FFL guy I was looking for a nice bolt 22. He mentioned a couple of brands. I bid on one and won it at my top bid point. When it arrived, he told me he had bid on it with me in mind. I was kind of bidding against myself.

Dear SS, Nothing to apologize for. Glad it went to a good home. I hope you will post some pictures once you receive it so I can really see it’s condition. As noted, the seller’s pictures were less than optimal.

Dear Steelslaver,
What did your pre model 30 look like when you received it? Have you cleaned it up? I, for one, would like to see it if you would be so kind. Thank you!
