I have located a Model 10-2 in very good condition with matching stocks.

It has a 4 inch barrel.

No box or accessories.

I will make a initial offer of 375, should I go much higher ?

As I understand it this engineering change was built in 1961 or there abouts for a realitivly short period.

I paid $375 for this Model 10-2. Got it on gunbroker in Feb this year. Good shooter. My notes say the 10-2 was 1961-1962. This one shipped 11/62.

It’s not any engineering changes that make the 10-2 special, but just the relative rarity. The 375 are a good price for any Model 10 in the condition you describe, but unless it would take food out of your kids’ mouths, I would likely be willing to add a twenty or two if necessary just for the coolness factor

Not exactly a birth year gun for me, but 1961 was the first year I have memories of.

I think it depends on condition; a very good price for a 97%+ model 10-2 and correspondingly less good as condition drops.

The change for the 10-2 was going to a left-hand thread for the extractor rod. It was produced for only a year or two before another change was made. For most (other than possibly a serious M&P collector), the 10-2 version wouldn't command a price premium vs. any other M&P of the same general period in similar condition. But $375 is not a bad price for any higher-condition M&P.
