Still waiting for the letter but I did take the old girl to the range yesterday. I was shooting some 250gr Keith style bullets at around 800 fps the accuracy was pretty good for a revolver that age but I'm here to tell you with those little service style stocks it was really uncomfortable to shoot. I'm thinking maybe some grip adapters might help.

I have come to the same conclusion. Whacks me in the middle finger knuckle every shot.

It was hammering the web of my hand, I've fired 460s that don't hurt that much but it was ported and had Goodyear's on it...

The Colt New Service is much more comfortable to shoot.. I had them in .45 Colt and a M-1917 .45.

S&W really needed Magna grips long before they got them. You'll probably find those an improvement, maybe with a Tyler adaptor.

I have a set of N frame magnas that I could use just for the range, I was just trying to keep it traditional with the stag service style stocks.

Sure, I getcha. But comfort when firing is the idea, I guess You can always keep the old stags, too.

I doubt if you carry this gun, or use it as your house gun. ??

With the number of firearms I own it's highly unlike that the triple lock would ever be used for defense of any kind. I'll give the grip adapters a shot to see if that might help at least it would still have the traditional look that way.

andy, there is a nice set of pre-war N frame Roper grips for sale on a popular site. About $1220 at this point, a week to go. Would look super on your gun. Can not post due to rules.

I would love to have a set of roper stocks but the prices are way to out line for me I'd rather spend that kind of money on some new old revolvers. I'm not really that versed in the history of Roper stocks but I don't think they were around when my Triple lock was made.

How about a description and some photographs of "the old girl"?

Wow. I must be in the minority here but I have always found the stock pre-war N frame grips comfortable to shoot. Them again, my height and hand size might be considered on the small size even by early Twentieth Century standards and it might just be that such grips were designed with someone of my build in mind.

I haven't received the letter yet so information is limited. I got the Triple Lock about a month ago, it's seen some hard miles but still is mechanically sound with a decent bore. Sometime in it's life it found it's way to Mexico because it has a import stamp from " Odin Alex VA" which were importers that got firearms primarily from Mexico.

About the only person in the early 1900s with hands as large as mine might be the village blacksmith, I wear a size 14 ring on my right hand.

Looks like a nice one to me. Reminds me of when I bought my first, last, and only one in 1979 for $250. Still have it. Within a year I saw another one out for sale in Jeffersonville for $350. Identical to the one I had. . .5 inch barrel and all. Since I "already had one", I didn't buy it. I guess there are no limits to stupid. At least not in my case.
