Default 4 digit serial k22???

A lgs by me has this K22 for sale with box and tools all except the s.a.t. I am on the fence due to the significant of holster wear on barrel and cylinder. $700 seems reasonable but that is a lot of dough for me right now. Some times of the year when I had more spending money I would kill for something like this but after taxes and background check it is approaching $800. Serial is k4692 or something similar, definately starting with 46. What say you guys???

Looks like a $400.00 to $500.00 package to me.

For sure it is an early one (early 1948) but it does not appear to have the barrel-shaped extractor rod knob. It would be no-brainer to buy it if it did. Personally, I would pass on it at that price, even with the box and tools, due to its condition (or at least try to get the price down to $500), but if you really like it, I don't think $800 is a bad all-in price if you have the money.

I'd pass. Don't need another scruffy finished shooter. Save up and get one in decent condition for $800.

My thinking is right on with you guys. It was there 2 weeks ago and I passed back then. I was actually surprised it was still there today. I do not have a S&W 22 but do have over a dozen in other makes in every shape and size made back in the day all of which are very accurate. I already bring 3 or 4 every range visit so thats what I was thining (dont need another to decide about every time). Figured I would check here just to make sure I wasnt passing on something "special".

It’s more of a shooter grade package but I suspect it will clean up a little nicer than the photos show. Depending on its mechanical condition I could see it in the $600 range OTD but the shop may disagree .

Need better pics of the ejector rod. It appears to be a LERK, but the pics are of poor quality.
In my collection, I have # 4339, and it does have the LERK. I know S&W jumped around a lot with these bbls and rods. If it is a LERK, the price is still a little high due to the condition of the gun, but maybe still worth the $$$. Big Larry

He has had a very early Ruger Flattop there for almost a year now. All the gun's in photo are on consignment and it's through the glass hence the poor pictures. The Ruger is a first year 44magnum with I belive under 2000 serial number. Apparently an old man owns it and it is PERFECT. They want $1200 for it. That is $100 more than the book price of 99% and why it is still there. The know on the ejector of the K22 is not a Lerk.

Pass on the K22. Nothing special. Someone never took good care of it. Big Larry

In the second pic, it looks more like a LERK barrel with a newer knurled end ejector rod.
