Like New Pre Model 27 3-1/2" 1950-51
Thanks to SGT 127 (who I was surprised to find out spent years on the same force as my brother in law), I now have a new centerpiece for my collection. I've not sent off for a letter yet, but I will. My pictures don't do this one justice - the deep carbona blue, oil and cloudy skies don't work well together. It is absolutely stunning. It is a pre model 27 from either 1950 or 1951, so obviously a 5 screw, S#S 79722. All matching (barrel, frame, cylinder, diamond checkered stocks, and original gold box). I'm not sure if it has ever been fired. If it has, not much. It looks like it could have been made this year, not 68 years ago - only they don't make them like this anymore and never will again.

If they tried to make one like that now, the tree huggers would probably have a fit about the bluing and other environmental stuff. Beautiful gun.

Stunning piece. Were you lucky enough to get the SAT?
I'd love to see a picture of that too. I have a six inch '53 with gold box, but no SAT. There are so many variations I'm not sure what a period correct one would even look like.

Aren't they the most perfectly balanced and beautiful pieces ever. I had mine out yesterday for an annual (or so) fluff & buff. Never hurts to run a patch of Hoppe's through it and buff it with an old flannel cloth. It has been years since I have shot mine, but I promised myself when the weather cools off it will get a chance to get to the range.

Earl, you are killing me with the pics. What a beautiful work of metal ART. My goodness. I bought a new 3.5" M27 in early 1970. When I got drafted I sold it to a friend - still has it and won't sell! I just love the proportions!!!!
