Default Thoughts on a Combat Magnum blue box

I have a 1956 vintage Combat Magnum in its original blue box numbered to the gun. I was under the impression that blue boxed started in 1957 or a little later? It has the solid white line and is an over label. I am not going to take the label off to see what it was originally. The overlabel states, 357 Combat Magnum, Bright. Anyone have any ideas? I have never seen or heard of a gold box for the Pre M19. Big Larry

over labels are not that unusual, if factory done. Your CM could have been in the back of the vault and gotten an over label. A pic of the box label would be great.

The box looks correct to me. I assume the serial number of the revolver is written in white grease pencil on the bottom. The Combat Magnum was never shipped in a gold box.

Thanks Bill. White grease pencil. The box is beat up some, but the revolver is stone cold mint. Big Larry

Is 3570 a Sn or an Inv. number? Anything written on bottom of box or other end? Very interesting mystery? Could be a box from a factory repair?
Im stumped.

Have no idea what the 3570 is. Not a serial number. Nothing on the bottom but the serial number. Big Larry

I have found some folks do not show their serial numbers on this Forum, so I will follow suit. I think I have a pic of the revolver. Big Larry
