Default Brazilian 1917 at shop in Ennis Montana

In Ennis, Montana on a trout fishing trip. Stopped in Shedhorn Outfitters to look around. They had a nice Brazilian contract 1917 for sale. Finish is nice - original grips are somewhat worn. If someone is in market for one you may wish to contact them. If I recall price was around $700.

What with the prices of model 1917's steadily rising the Brazilians if you can find a nice one at the above price seems like a good deal to me. Mine exhibits light pitting all the exterior surfaces. The really bad stuff is where the stocks are. Barrel does show some light corrosion from firing corrosive ammo but have a NOS 1917 barrel put away for a rainy day. haven't had the sideplate off yet to see what the innards look like. But still goes bang when you pull the trigger. I use the RIMZ full moon clips and so far they are holding up well. Frank

Shedhorn sports has an amazing inventory for a small town. The owner is a good friend of mine. You should buy that as a memento of Montana!!

As a guy who trys to stop by every gun shop and pawn shop I come across in Montana, I can tell you that you won't run into many decent revolvers. I think that here those that have keep and that revolvers are still popular.

Lots of semis for sale. But, even in Billings or Missoula, the 2 largest areas, going through every shop won't net you close to a dozen older Smiths.

$700 seems a little high even for a nice Brazilian, but maybe that's the new normal. Of course, the dealer may come down a little and really, where else are you going to find a revolver in .45 caliber for less?

Ask the owner ( Rob Gallentine) how firm he is on that revolver. Also, make sure to say hi from Randy in Billings...he will know......

Yes. Talking to them they say the good used revolvers go fast. They did have an older Colt Trooper in .38 that was in excellent condition.

Spent all my budget on fishing so didn't buy any thing. Great day on the Madison yesterday. A number of nice Browns and Rainbows caught. Two biggest were 19". Came out with brother and nephew. Heading back east today. Wish I could stay longer. Beautiful country and great people!
