Default **UPDATE** Opinions & DOB Heavy Duty Please !**PIC ADDED!**

I just spotted a blued 4" .38/44 HD. The serial # is in the S 72xxx range if I remember correctly. Seller wants $650. It shows quite a bit of honest carry wear ("character"). Everything is tight though.

It has all the traits of a retired service revolver with no department markings.

I just got the wild idea that it would make a great "house gun" maybe with a couple of Bianchi Speed Strips and some hot ammo.

What is the approximate DOB ? Fair price??

Should I "buy it now"?

S 72xxx would have shipped in the 1948-49 period. As described, I'd say $650 may be a bit high. Also watch out to see if it has been rechambered for .357 Magnum. Many were. If you really want it, you might try to bargain for it in an attempt to get a price in the $500-$600 range. No question it would be worth at least $650 if in higher condition.

It could be used as a house gun, but if that is what you need, a smaller and lighter revolver might be a better choice. You should be able to find a much higher condition Combat Masterpiece (Model 15) for $650 which would be better for that purpose.

I sold a comparable 4" 38-44 Transitional last Oct for $475ish shipped. The sharp shoulder magnas were way nicer than the one I believe you're looking at. I've had some luck messaging sellers with an offer in the past so you may try that.

They wanted $650 + $45 shipping. We haggled down to $550 + $30. I'm sure I'll letter it. They bought it from a seller @ a Ft. Worth gun show. Worst case is I finally have my "shooter" Heavy Duty. I have several others that have some collectible factor that keep them off the range.

I love a 4" N Frame!!

More pics when it gets here.....

Looks like a Post War Transitional Model to me.

Does it have MADE IN U.S.A. on the right front frame?

Yes sir along w/ Marcas Registradas etc.

On a side note, the only thing that I believe I'll change is to remove the trigger shoe.
