1917 .45
I ran up on the finest 1917 I have ever seen in the wild. It came into a friend's shop. Low serial number and basically unissued. Barely a turn mark and NO evidence of having been fired. We'll now my old refinished Brazilian goes on the block I guess.

That is a nice looking 1917! I'd keep the Brazilian as a shooter.

Wow..........that is one beautiful revolver. Among the best I've ever seen. Mine has a 4 digit serial number with no UNITED STATES PROPERTY stamp under the barrel.

You probably won't shoot that one, keep the Bazillion for shooting.

WWI 1917s were all blued, just a little less polished than the civilian commercial models of the time.
Actually nicer than the satin finished com'l models that followed the war for the ~8 to 10 years. Same thing for the com'l models following WWII.

Me neither, but that's because we've worked all of our lives, unlike that 1917!

An advisement - I am not a 'one-up ' guy, but lucked into one even more perfect. Just from a friend I made while working at a LGS about 5 years ago. Really didn't have the $700 he wanted, but did it anyway.
Don't have pics available right now. It (and this forum) more or less twisted my arm to get a 'stand-in shooter', which I did by getting a beater Brazilian.
Enjoy yours, looks great.

Yeah, after getting it home; I've reconsidered parting ways with my old ( although newer)one. This one probably won't be shot. I might as well just try to keep it as pristine as possible.

Some of the old M1917s remaining in military inventory were rebuilt and refinished for military use during WWII, usually with a phosphate finish. Those used in WWI were blued.
