Default Registered Mag. Question

What was the most common barrel length for the RM's? I anticipate in another month or so I'll be in the hunt for a shooter grade RM.

Here are the numbers from Jinks' published treatise on the RM's. I say "the numbers", 5,224 RM's were produced. Records for 4,371 of these exist---the balance "are not available". It was deemed appropriate to extrapolate estimated totals from the known, and the numbers here are those estimated totals. If you want the known, just let me know.

3 1/2---408
3 3/4---6
4---337
4 1/4---4
4 1/2---108
4 3/4---4
5---869
5 1/4---3
5 1/2---140
5 3/4---1
6---839
6 1/4---1
6 1/2---1,518
6 3/4---16
7---72
7 1/4---1
7 1/2---79
7 3/4---1
8---26
8 1/4---8
8 3/8---38
8 1/2---10
8 3/4---734

In the for what it's worth department, the registration numbers, configuration, and barrel lengths of the 144 known nickel guns are available--as are the serial numbers of the non RM's--as are the registration numbers of those with humpback hammers. All in all there are 22 pages of more information than you could digest in a week of intense study. It was a monumental undertaking.

Default Thanks and apologies

First of all apologies to the mods, as I placed this in the wrong section to start with. My bad! Secondly many thanks for the terrific responses and insight as to the RM's. Hugh
