Default Happy handle--old ivory on my Triple Lock

Sometimes it really pays off to read the forums. A member recently posted in this section a value query on an old, well used set of ivory stocks. I posted on his thread that I had a 5" TL that would love to be wearing those tusks. Some PMs later, they are here. I am not a collector of collector grade guns. Couldn't afford to be if I wanted. I collect guns with a little 'baggage'...maybe a notch on the barrel. As such many of the guns that follow me home are missing original wood. I like to find something that matches the gun. I am fortunate to own two Triple Locks. One is a 6.5" barrel with number matching grips. The other is the rarer 5" variety that was given to me by my wife on our 30th anniversary. The 5" came with jigged bone (I love those, too). When this ivory was posted I just thought they might look really stunning on the TL...the 'been there, done that' look.

Both guns and grips have been posted before--but never together. The have worn but original finish...and both can go to the range whenever I feel like it!

I like those grips on your gun they look great. I also remember the original post because one has checkering the other does not. Are you going to leave well enough alone or have the one checkered if possible? Either way hope you get out and enjoy that sweet gun often!

Great guns. Nice addition with the ivory. I wouldn't "down vote" the wear on them; heck, there is still a lot of bluing to wear off.

(I mean this as a positive. Something someone actually used or carried. Way under appreciated in my view. Enjoy my friend.)

I'm planning on leaving them the way they are....other than possibly lightening up the break repair. We get sweaty here in Texas. Ivory is slick, especially when sweaty. The checkering feels really good in the palm and improves the feel in my opinion. I have a set of Wolf & Klar marked steerhead MOP grips so asymetrical does not really bother me.

Those are as fine as frog's hair. I would usually get slapped for saying "nice pair" but in this instance it's appropriate.

Score! Well done! Nice TL's, and nice ivory. Great patina and honest wear. Right in my wheelhouse. Thanks for sharing!

Both guns very nice.

The old ivory is a great match. I too would just get some crud out of the break repair so it's not so obvious. A tooth brush with tooth paste or Lava soap should do the trick.
