Default Production figures of Triple Locks based on barrel length.

Any ideas as to production figures based on the four barrel lengths? Obviously 6 1/2" is, by far and away, the most common barrel length. Although 6" barrel lengths are mentioned in the literature, it is probable none were produced in that barrel length. Then, thus, 4", 5", 6 1/2", & seven and a half inch barrel lengths (sorry, seven key not working).

Only one idea (complete with weasel words) on one barrel length (which is further qualified by sights), but I guess you have to start somewhere.

This from the letter on one of mine: "It is my opinion that somewhere between 250 and 500 were completed with the 7.5 inch barrel and some type of target sight."

That's the best and only idea I've got.

Ralph Tremaine

I just remembered another: I saw an engraved 4" target finished in what appeared to be brushed nickel on Mr. Brazille's table once. I lusted after it, but the price tag said $20,000. He said I could have it for a mere $17,500. I continued to lust.

I don't know of any known production figures by barrel length and don't believe any exist.

If it helps, I can offer an educated guess.
You'r correct that 6 1/2" is the most common, likely in the 80% range.
I also don't believe 6" exists.
Remaining production is likely something like this:

4"...........11%
5".............7%
7 1/2"........2%

Your guess is probably better than mine, but I have seen several 5" bbls for each 4" I've seen. Other than the British contract of 6.5" models, out of U.S. commercial my guess is...
6.5"........75%
5"...........15%
4"............7%
7.5".........3%
Value of my estimate....$.02

Maybe 7-10% of those being target models?

I'm happy to be among the 2%! I knew the 7.5 Target was scarce but I didn't realize it was only 2% or less.

I would guess the 5" barrel length to be more common than the 4". In fact, the only thing I have ever seen written regarding Triple Lock production figures based on barrel length--and I don't know where I read it--is that nickel Triple Locks with 4" barrels number less than 125 and maybe less than a hundred.

Six and a half inch barrels seem, by far and away, the most common. I would guess > 90%.

Seven and a half inch barrels seem incredibly rare. I've never seen one before. My holy grail.

They are around, at least target versions. Got a turkey with this one I've only seen 2 fixed sight 7.5"ers.
