ID this S&W .38 Special
Local ad. No description other than .38 Special S&W 6-shot. One blurry picture. Looks like a nickel Outdoorsman? I think it’s an N frame, but not sure.

Not an expert on early guns, but looks like an early M+P (k frame) with much later grips. One of millions out there. Neither a N frame or Outsdoorsman unfortunately.

It is a K Frame, common M&P but the nickle does look original as far as this blurry picture tells me. Stocks are from much later. Can't identify any further without better (clear) pictures and a s/n.

It was made prior to 1927 by the shape of the extractor rod tip, and is probably unrefinished but the nickel is worn. And it has fixed sights so it is not an Outdoorsman or a Target.

What they said and it appears the stock screw is missing. Most likely value of $250 - $300.

Yes, this definitely is an early M&P.
I would agree that there are no indications that the nickel is not original.
As was said, the knob puts it before 1927. I‘d add that the lack of a small logo on the left puts it before 1920.

I agree with everything posted so far. Also the grips are not period-correct - they seem to be post-1968.
