Found a nice 5 Screw K Frame Today
Worked a little trade today and I would up with this 1952 K38. Blue is really nice with a little wear on muzzle. No scratches. Overall very nice. Bore and cylinders are like new. Locks up tight. Grips do number to gun but show more wear than the gun. Tyler t grip was a bonus. Been looking for a Mod 14 with 8 3/8” barrel but this will have to fill in for now. She will get the snot shot out of her starting tomorrow. Not even going to ask what the value is on these today. I wanted it, have less than 5 Benjamins invested so I’m happy. I’m sure if I don’t like it I can get my money back.

Very nice older K38. They are simply irresistible to me too! You did good on a pre 14 for under 5 bills. The only problem with your whole deal is- if you miss it will be simply your fault not the gun. Enjoy

I've pondered that myself. I was actually surprised to see the serial stamped on the grip. I would have bet money that the grips were not original. The right grip looks worse than the left and I wouldn't bet money that the left is the original. The more that I look at the grips off the gun, the more I'm thinking the left is not original. There is just too much difference in the condition and the patina on the inside is just enough different to make me think that the left side is a replacement. But what the heck, I didn't buy the gun for the grips and would have made the deal if it didn't have any grips on it at all! It will have different grips when I get to the range and I doubt these will ever go back on unless I decide to trade or sell and I don't see that happening for a while anyway. When I see a 62 year old gun in this condition, the first thing I think of is there is a lot of fun that has been missed through the years and its time the gun was used like it was designed for.

Very well bought. To me those somewhat worn matching grips are way better than a set of pristine mismatched. I'd lose the Tyler but I have small hands.

My guess on the stocks is that it was handled (dry-fired or shot) a fair amount, not holstered and cleaned very carefully. Enjoy!

The revolvers STOCKS may be worn on the right side due to police use. I have a Sig P220 that had badly worn stocks on the left side. The auto was 98% or better, and after a little research, I found out it was a police trade in and was owned by a left handed Officer. Most Police guns are usually holstered and very seldom drawn. Well, back in the old days anyway. Letter it. You may be surprised. I have a 1940 vintage M&P that lettered to the Sacramento PD. One in the shipment and the gun is virtually unused. Big Larry

Not necessarily older, the target hammers were a 1949 option. My early 1951 K38 Heavy, shipped to HH Harris, has a factory target hammer. My 1949 K38 light, has the speed hammer. Big Larry
