I don't know much about the finishes of the 38-44 Outdoorsman, but if that is a 1930s gun, did the factory used a matte blue in that time period??

I believe it has been re-blued, judging by the fit of the side plate.

The matte finish was used only during the post-WWII period.

It is my understanding that is often called satin or matte blue and high polish ("Bright") blue finish on K frame guns from the 1910s & 1920s. Satin/matte blue was the standard, and bright was available on order, on both service and target grade guns.

Yes unfortunately the original stocks were replaced with Pachmyrs, so I put some ivories, befitting such an elegant lady!

I put a letter request in the mail last week. I guessing about 1936 or so?

I also have a “McGivern “ Model with a 5” bbl that letters correctly. It is #58104 from 1940.

I would agree whole-heartily,
Last year at this time I had no N frames. This year the five guns I bought have all been ODs.
Still have to try to take a group photo.

These two started it all.
