Default Early N Frame Grips

Gentlemen, I'm going to show my ignorance here. What grips would a 2nd Model Hand Ejector .44 have been wearing around 1910-1915? I've got a refinished one coming and I'm using it for a 1915 impression and need to know what grips to look for.

Check out the "Notable Thread Index" at the top of this Forum and look at "Grips". There is a wealth of info there,

The dates you are giving would be for a first model "Triple Lock". The 2nd model started in 1915. There were grip style changes in about 1910, 1920, and 1930. The ones from the 20's had no medallions. The teens had recessed/sunken gold medallions, and the 30's had larger flush silver medallions. So, depending on exactly when your 2nd model was made would determine the correct grips.

The K frame and N frame revolvers throughout the teens had stocks like the ones shown below. The N frame stocks were around 1/8" bigger all around than K frames and the two are sometimes misidentified when put up for sale. The stocks on the right are N frames and the second image shows a K frame stock set on top of an N frame stock to show size differences. You need to look closely to see the exposed N frame stock.

Check closely when buying. The good news is if you are buying a set of K frames from this era and end up with a set of N frames, you actually did really well, not so much the other way round.

I noted that you mentioned impressions?? The square butt K and N frames only were available in walnut and not hard rubber like the K frame round butt. Were you planning on molding a set?
