Default What does it do?

I have a 32 long S&W 6 shooter 1920ish I think, anywho it’s a five screw? and the fifth screw I found at the front top of the trigger guard. What does that screw do and I want to take it out to know that it’s not frozen, is there any risk in removing it? thanks

Under that screw contains a small rod and spring that operates the cylinder stop. No risk and nothing will fly out.

Yep, and it’s a short lil buggar more like a plug without many threads. You have to be careful putting it back in, the lack of threads on the “screw” can make it easier to cross thread.
