Welcome to the Forum.

You have a .32 Hand Ejector (Postwar) aka a pre Model 30. It would have shipped in the late 1940s.

Beautiful!

Officially you have an ".32 Hand Ejector", from a collector's more specific reference, it's a ".32 Hand Ejector, Improved I frame -1st version (round sight). It likely shipped from S&W at the end of 1952 or early 1953.

In the yoke cutout, the A is an inspector mark and the # is an assembly which matches the # on the yoke and inside the side plate.

It became the Model 30 in June of 1957. Yours is one evolutionary change too early to be a Pre-Model 30 which was the 1953 Model New I frame.

Shoot and enjoy it, you'll be impressed with its accuracy.

Do you have other firearms and familiar with cleaning and caring for it?

It's a great shooter, that's for sure. I'm solid with cleaning and care. I grew up on S&W revolvers.

Thanks for the info!
