Default cleaning old k22

Picked up an old K22 whose side plate has fingerprint (?) marks on it. Any way to clean those off or have they got stuck there from the years of sitting on it? Don't want to ruin the finish of course. Thanks.

Try WD-40 and a piece of brown paper sack. Wad the paper up and wrinkle it plenty, then spray the surface of the metal with WD-40 and rub gently. Let the oil set on the metal and go back over the area. I've done this several times on old blued guns with generally positive results. A harsher method of cleaning is using 0000 bronze wool and WD-40. Start with the brown paper sack material first. Gary

About the only brown paper sacks I've seen lately are the freezer bags near the ice cream aisle.

I'd suppose that shredding up a piece of corrugated cardboard box would produce the same results as using a Kraft paper bag. Basically the same material.

The grocery store where I shop still has paper bags but you have to ask
for them or you will get plastic from the cashiers who bag your groceries.
I always use the self checkers and they have bins of paper bags below
the check station and plastic on top. I have a good sized stash of paper
bags at home and they really come in handy at times. I'll bet that most
stores still have them if you ask for them. Remember, the customer is
always right :-)

Try to use some Flitz. It takes away de crud and oxid in the blue. I do it with all my guns, and the bluing just looks great.
