Default Model 15 Question???....

Having recently acquired two S&W model 15's, (one in Montana and one in SE TX), I am amazed at the quality of the SA/DA triggers on these old gents...
First in Montana... Ser # K3992XX...DOB 1960??...
Then in SE TX... Ser # K3839XX...DOB 1960??...

Question: Why can't S&W make stock triggers like this anymore?...

Good question. The one M15 I owned, a 15-3 that my son has now, had a finer, silkier trigger than any handgun I ever shot.

I have a M15 no dash. No complaints about the trigger. Your two are in the 1960 manufacturing SN range.

While I was using books to teach myself how to do S&W revolver trigger jobs I put off doing my 29-2 until my confidence built up. In those days 29s were selling through newspaper classified ads for double MSRP which would have made replacing it a significant chunk of my budget. By the time I got ready to dive in it had given itself its own trigger job. To paraphrase Jerry Miculek, the best trigger job only accelerates smoothing that occurs naturally through use. Those two Model 15s are 58 years old. They may have been smoothed out by cycling.
