Model 14-1 K38 With Extras
Actually, I bought the extras and got a 14-1 tossed in. What initially caught my eye was the rosewood presentation smooth target stocks. Then I looked at the box. I have seen mention of the larger dark blue boxes used for K frames that shipped with target stocks, but never saw one in person (maybe because I'm not a magnum kind of guy). The final deciding factor was the SCSW mentioning a slight premium for the -1 variant.

Nice find.
However, I tend to think neither the stocks nor the box are original to this revolver. The stocks could have been a special order item, but it would be unusual.
The box has a label that is much older than any Model 14-1. By the time the Model 14 was brought to market in 1958, all production K-38 Masterpiece revolvers were of the Heavy Masterpiece type, and this label was no longer in use.

I own a Model 14 in 8 3/8 that has the same plain box and sticker that shipped in March of 1959.
I would think its possible they might of had some 5 ring boxes laying around by 1961 but would be unusual. The sticker was likely being produced into 1958 as I believe that was the first year of the 8 3/8 K38s.

That Sir is a great find! I have one set of those Rosewood stocks and they came on my four screw Model 53.
