Who's got a 4" pre-war N-frame?
Rummaging through the safe the other day I realized that there are no pre-war 4" N-frames in my toy box. Dang. Does anyone have 4" 1st, 2nd, or 3rd .44 to show and share?

I envy you guys that have to rummage through their safes to ascertain what they own. I just look on the top shelf of my closet and there they are.
But Im 70 yrs old and getting out.

But you like and enjoy what you have, right? Quality over quantity. I just have a thing for old iron with years of honest wear.

I have shown this before but here goes..
I call this one the "Half-Breed"
Simply an old second model with an attempt
to make it a third...good shooter with a little Texas twist.
Old gun still tight and right.
I hit a dead end on Trooper O'Quinn.
No clue what they were trying to accomplish with the front
sight.

Even though my 3rd model doesn't show a lot of wear it's all original. This triple lock is a 5", sorry don't have a 4" TL but if your looking for a whole lot of honest miles it would surely do. Shipped 1915 to El Paso TX.

Maybe I can play, too. Here's my 4" Registered Magnum ordered by Frank Baughman for FBI agent Arlin Jones. Originally shipped blue, later factory refinished in nickel. Grips are old and came to me with the gun

My only 4 Inch Barreled Pre-War N Frame...
Tom:
... just this pre-war 38/ 44. But somewhere in its past, it was a 6.5"er...

How about a first & 3rd model 44?
3rd Model 44 HE aka Wolf & Klar
An infamous 4" Triple Lock or 1st Model 44 HE. This is lettered as 4", and has a lot of love and miles to show.
And maybe, just to mix it up....a Transitional 38/44 from the early first month of post war production.

Here's a Couple.......
KCPD Non Reg. Magnum
This Reg. Magnum, number 4752, originally shipped to the Evansville, IN. Dept. of Public Safety in 1939. It was one 13 in the order, all had 4 inch barrels. This one returned to the factory in 1952 for a barrel replacement to the 5 inch it wears now.
Enjoy
Ned

I had the privilege of brokering this gun some years back.
I couldn't afford to keep it!
You can see more pics here-

Took my “new” 4 incher out today for the first time. This was out at 15 yds with my reloads of 240gr over 6.0 of Unique. The left target is SA and the right target is DA. The bottom target is from another 44.
This one has become one of my new favorites. It is smooth shooting and has a great feel. I’d highly recommend a pre war 4” to everyone.
