Default 38 special hand ejector

I have a hand ejector 38 special that I would like to learn about and find out roughly how much I should be able to sell it for. From other posts, I’m guessing it was built sometime in the 1920’s, but hope you can narrow that down. The finish is a little worn, I assume from spending its early life in a holster, but it works perfectly. Thanks for your help!

Serial number 482249
5” barrel
fixed sites
There is a strain screw in the front gripstrap.
5 screws

Welcome to the Forum.

You have a .38 Military & Police from about 1923-1927. I'd put a value of $300-$375, depending on your location.

Im all ways amazed at the fit of the side plate to the frame and the pristine screws. And the wood, holy moly!

The 482- range serial places the gun most likely in later 1923 or 1924. It looks to be all original, with correct stocks, and was most likely a police service sidearm. The 5” barrel seems to have been popular for that at the time; we’ve seen quite a few here. Mine is 450432, Minneapolis PD from May 1923.

You're right, it does need more cleanup. I gave it a once-over, but will do more before putting it up for sale.
