M&P Pre-Model 10 Post War
Just purchased a Pre-Model 10 Post war and came with an S&W Letter showing serial number c261993 shipped to Marine Corp Supply Annex,Camp Lejeune, NC.4 inch standard barrel, blue finish, butt swivel, checkered walnut square butt grips.Back strap marked U.S. Property. All numbers match including grips. It is in about 75% condition and locks up tight with an excellent bore.Has lanyard ring.Had to give 600.00 for it at local gunshow so was curious of approximate value of this S&W. Thanks

Post some clearly focused photos for us to help you. Guesstimate on that serial number is likely around 1953 or so, without looking in the books.
Photo both sides of the revolver (full view), the US Markings and the butt with the serial number showing.
If all original the serial number should be on the butt, on the face of the cylinder, on the underside of the barrel, and on the inside of the right grip panel.
This actually belongs in the next category of "S&W Hand Ejectors: 1896 to 1961". Don't fret, likely one of the administrators will be by to move it to the correct section.

I'm not an expert so any value would be a guesstimate but I also would love to see pictures .Older guys here are fond of the expression you never pay too much you just buy too early.i agree .

A sidearm that can be documented to the Marine Corps is a rare find but one that is a direct purchase is getting into the hen's tooth category. Even at 75% I would consider it a 4 figure revolver.

The only one that I could find that sold recently went for $2,100. Must not have been any Marines bidding.
