Default Smith T-4 revolver

Has anybody ever heard of a smith T-4 revolver? It's a K frame 2 inch square butt 18 .38 special with a blues finish. It has no markings except a serial no, and the T-4 stamping the frame where the model is usually stamped. Looking for any info.

Btw, it has magna grips with the diamond.

A model 18, or a 15? I have a 2" model 15 square butt, but it isn't stamped T-4. One of my favorites wheel guns.

Here is a good post for information we need for an ID:

To IDENTIFY your Gun >

Alternatively, just posting the serial number would really help. S & W revolvers made before about 1957 would have no model number, however if it is an original 2" barrel K frame .38 Special with those stocks it is a postwar .38 Military & Police. The SN would tell us exactly how old it is.

Correct, inspector or fitter stamps. Too short to be an assembly number, I think.

Love a good K frame mystery. Hope the OP wanders back by and posts some more clues.
Good shootin’,

Nope - 3 T’s are target hammer, trigger and stocks.

Yes, taking those parts of the OP’s description that do make sense at face value, namely K-frame 2”, .38 Spl, square butt, blued, diamond magnas, no model number in the yoke cut, it can only be a post-war M&P.

The only thing is that a fitters mark T-4 in the yoke cut doesn’t appear sufficient. Shouldn’t there be a real four- or five-digit assembly number?

I found a Model 7 in a pawn shop a couple years ago.
http://smith-wessonforum.com/attachm...9&d=1515813560

A sharp eyed forum member turned me on to it. 4", 4-screw, 44 Magnum with Cokes. '7' was stamped in the yoke cut out.
