Another pre-war snubbie (Letter added in post #10)
I struck gold again yesterday at the Mansfield, OH gun show. Found this pre-war snubbie with serial number 6661XX. It is all numbers matching including the stocks. I thought I was through getting letters, but now another one is required.
The name on the sideplate was initially disappointing, but a little research showed Frend Boals to be a Mansfield police officer in the 1930's. He was one of the developers of the Safety Town program that taught kids how to safely cross streets. There appears to be a significant number of newspaper references to Officer Boals.
Hopefully the letter shows the revolver shipped to Mansfield P.D. or Officer Boals. I have another one that shipped to a Montana sheriff in 1935.

Beautiful pre-war snubbie. I think the date puts it right around 1939-1940. I think it’s great that it stayed in it’s home city for 90 years; I don’t think that would be very common.

Great find! I think the name on the side plate adds to the interest. Wish I'd driven south from the Cleveland area - didn't know there was a Mansfield gun show.

I would place production of this gun likely a bit earlier, maybe 1937 at the latest. Around that time the large logo on the sideplate replaced the small logo on the left, and since this gun was still manufactured with small logo and clean plate (unlike some transitional snubbies which actually have both logos), I think that places this gun firmly prior to the change.

A very neat and special find of a sharp looking revolver with some great history. If you don't mind, would love to see or hear about the letter when you get it. Congrats

I think you are correct Absalom. The one I have from 1935 and the two from 1936 have the small logo on the left. My 1939 shipped gun has both the small one on the left and the larger logo on the sideplate.
In the photo below, the nickel is 6121XX and shipped in March, 1936. The blued one on top left is 5979XX and shipped October, 1935. Bottom left is 6254XX and shipped June, 1936. The blued one on top right is the subject of this thread (6661XX). The one on bottom right is 6662XX and shipped February, 1939.

Your latest find is great and a fantastic piece of history. Not to mention, a great addition to your other 5 snubbies posted above.
Well done!

Lucky you. I have yet to even see a pre-war M&P snubby.
