Input on N-Frame grips

Any and all info you may have is appreciated.

The story and my ask:

Acquired this outstanding condition 29 no dash 4 inch
close to 40 years ago. It dates 1961 shipped.

Never fired it, no need, always had other N-Frames to shoot.

Original owner, whom I didn't meet ( acquired this from
his grandson who he willed it to and was looking for fast cash)
fitted it with Jordan style Herretts grips, popular back in the day.

Probably a savvy and cool guy. But the original grips are lost and gone, the kid knew nothing when I asked.

Anyway, my ask is....is there someone out there reproducing
a proximity of what the original grips on this old Smith came with from the factory?

No need to have them reproduced, there are plenty of OEM, period correct grips for your gun.

For a 1961 model, the "coke bottle" style grips would be correct, and they go for about one zillion dollars.

Of course, this post will give someone an opportunity to say how they found a pair in a $5.00 bargain bin. Anything can happen, and that wouldn't violate the immutable laws of physics.

Buy Genuine parts always if possible
I am confused buy your post and ask for some clarity
Did u just buy this or have had this for awhile?
U state this has never been fired
Is this by you or do u mean you were told this?
Who told u this about the gun?
Grandson who sold it to you?
I can see obvious turn line and what looks like bluing wear around cylinder release and other spot so it looks to be used for sure
These guns even back then were bought to carry and shoot...most people when this was new would have been a very large investment and those grips on it now we're also expensive...
most had them made to the size of their hand...
My dad has always loved these types of grips and we have had many thru out home in my lifetime
To reproduction grips will not add value and if they are not perfect 1-1 copies they detract value
u can find correct grips it just takes time...
They will not be cheap unless u luck into a set
I would suggest asking in the WTB and find even a set that needs restored and have them done
They are better than repops unless u have deep pockets and can have a custom grip maker do them for u..

This is my 1964 6.5" 29-2 with the original Coke grips.

If your 29-2 were mine this is what I would buy for it.



Or at least a nice set of Diamond Targets like these on my 1960 6.5" M27.

Its a personal thing but for me I much prefer factory S&W grips over the aftermarket ones.
