These grips were a set in a group of grips that I purchased recently. Originally I thought they were K frame grips, but once I had then in hand, I realized that they were possibly N frame. They fit my Highway Patrolman. I did a little more research and think they are a set of Model 1917 grips. 23419 is penciled on the inside of the right grip. This number falls in line with a Model 1917 produced in 1925. Really just trying to verify, if possible. I will most likely list them in the classifieds, just didn't know what kind of value they had. They are a couple of nicks on the bottom and also one small chip missing from the front corner of the right panel. I'll try to get some better pics posted.

Yes, those grips are from a 1917, the first aprox 25,000 had the concave top, after that they were full to the top.

Those are nice looking stocks. FWIW, I searched the forum and that serial number doesn't show up for any 1917's. There is a post about a model marked gun with that number but nothing about a 1917.

Sure would be nice if they could find there way back to the original gun.

JSR III, I thought the same thing about them being reunited back with the gun.

I looked up the serial number on Old Guns and they say
"The year of manufacture for serial number 23419 is 1918.
February"

That would make sense in that they are earlier type stocks.

are all the original factory 1917 stocks numbered to the gun? in pencil ?or stamped? or some not at all?

All S&W 1917 revolvers should have the grips numbered, in pencil, to the frame.

There were some of these grips used on the 1947 shipment of guns to Brazil as they were made up from left over 1917's found in the shop. I had one with these grips a few years ago.

What kind of value do they have? I have not been able to find a listing with originals for sale.
