For those of you that gamble, as I remember, four of a kind is a good hand.I now share with you my"good hand". I feel that I have been a very lucky player.

No doubt. Great collection in a scarce caliber! Thanks for showing those.

In the mid 1980's, I went through 4 25's. 2 dash 2's and two dash 5's. they were a 4 inch and a 6 inch of each. When I was all said and done I didn't keep any of them long term. They were tying up about $260 of my hard earned cash and 4 kids wanted to eat for some reason! But I remember shooting Federal 225 grain Hollow base, hollow point swc's that I bought at K-Mart for around $6.99/50. The dash 5's both loved that ammo! A 6" diameter sapling takes about 100 rounds to get cut down behind your target! (take closer to 200-250 with 357!)
The only 45 cal N-Frames I have now are a 625 Series of 1989 and a 1917 Brazilian contract. With lead bullets they remove trees much better than with FMJ!

The heavy barrel is a 1955 Target, one of~15 made in .45 Colt
The other three are 1950 Targets. About 200 made in .45 Colt

Kinda hard to beat 4 of a kind! And if a tie-breaker was needed, the condition of those would win, hands down.

Back in 1982 I bought a 25-5 (45 Colt) for $275 then traded it for a standard Colt 1911 even up. I've been through several 1911's and still have 3, but have never had the opportunity to buy another 25-5. (I have bought and use a 25-2).

According to SCSW#4 your serial number would fall into 1954. They started with S103000 and ended with S139999.
Hope this helps.

Beautiful collection OP!
I'm a huge fan of the .45 Colt. But sadly the SAA style revolver and my arthritic hands just don't get along.
Thank goodness Smith & Wesson chose to build guns in this great caliber.
The bottom right is a 25-2 .45acp. However, all the rest are in .45 Colt.

I have a S&W 25-5 6-inch, 45 Colt, I used for my first pig. It ran about 250 lbs live weight. I used 255 grain cast SWC bullets for practice, 18.5 grains of 2400, WLP primers, for average of 1041 fps, 613 ft-lbs. I used 50 rounds per session, 5 days a week, to cut a 12 inch diameter length of stump on end in two once a week, practicing at 50 yards offhand. I reduced my waste cuttings in my woodlot fairly quickly. The actual pig harvest was anti-climactic, one shot shoulder to shoulder plus one more as he spun around. The only lead recovered was a fingernail size fragment. Plenty of practice and the right load makes for a satisfying hunt. I tried the same setup for black bear but the bear didn't cooperate!
