With a 1959 Serial Number, I would be surprised if the Model, 17 in your case, isn't stamped into the frame/yoke cut on the frame side.

According to the reference material to which we all have access, your K-22 Masterpiece was manufactured in 1948, and its shipping date can be determined with a letter from the S&W Historical Foundation, but I wouldn't be inclined to bet against Engine49guy's guesstimate of 1948.
They cranked out over 50,000 guns in this serial number series in 1948, and were very likely shipping them as fast as they came off the line. But while they were going as fast as they could, they weren't cutting any corners; and your handgun is regarded as the finest .22 caliber target revolver ever made.
