Default 1940 K-22 Outdoorsman

An exciting day here in Montana when I found this K-22 Outdoorsman in excellent condition with the original box. Box is in great condition with the instructions on the lid. Someone loved and cared for this one over the last 80 years. It cost me $1000, my most expensive S&W to date. It joins 9 other .22 S&W's among the pile. It is much better condition than the photo shows.

Wow is that a beauty. I don't think I've ever seen a red box that nice. Well worth the investment.

You did well, very well!!

You can really get the bug for these after you find your first one.

Does the grips have matching numbers?

My 1939 Outdoorsman has matching service grips but magnas were starting to really show up on the Masterpieces in 1940

Amen!!! And that is a beautiful K-22 revolver and box!

Just for reference, my youngest K-22 Outdoorsman (SN 679290), shipped in October 1939.

Thanks for sharing,

You won't find another one in that condition, with a great box, for a long time! Nice snag!!

I have a first year (1931) that is one of my favorites. It's the oldest gun I own that gets shot often. These are so overbuilt that I firmly believe my future grandchildren will be handing it down to their progeny someday, still in perfectly shootable condition.

I was just going to say, that purely from a financial standpoint the OP will never be hurt by paying $1000 for that gun and box. Get some CCI standard velocity and enjoy it.

Thanks for sharing,
Looks like it might be older than I figured then. SN 6627XX. By the way all the numbers match, even the grips are stamped properly. Thanks for all the kind replies.

Very nice K-22 OD

My memory must be getting worse as I cant recall when the change from a small Left side TM to a Large Right side TM occurred
... had thought it was 1938

For comparison my highest small L side TM K-22 OD is :
Serial 655394, Shipped Jan 1936

My only large R side TM K-22 OD is :
Serial 673779, Shipped Oct , 1938

It looks like it's in excellent shape from the picture. A wonderful revolver and a model you seldom see come up at any price.
