Default 4 Screw HP

Several years ago, I picked up a 6”Highway Patrolman at a local gun show because the price was really good for an N Frame .357.
Put it in the safe, and pretty much ignored it, as I usually shoot my 5” 625.
A friend and I started talking about a H.P. he just bought.
I hauled mine out of the a
safe for a show and tell.
As it turns out, it shows very little signs of use with just a slight turn line.
Aftermarket grips.
It is a pre 28 four screw, produced very late in 1957.
Appreciate any thoughts on value. I have no interest in selling, but just curious, as this seems to be a fairly uncommon gun.
Best,
Gary

Tough to give values without pictures but model 28's have seen to jump in value recently. Without original grips in very nice condition I could see a 4 screw in the $600 to$700 range personally. I was watching a nice 4 screw on GunBroker sit for awhile at $600 but if I remember correctly in ended up getting a couple bids and went for $650 back in November 2019. Hope this helps.

At gun shows, I usually see price tags in the $800 range for average condition older HPs. No idea what they actually sell for. Not the kind of S&Ws I am much interested in, bought a HP once, didn't keep it long.

I picked this one up on November 30, 2019. Numbers matching stocks, the right panel. Four screw from 1960. Total cost with tax and background was $678.03.

Model 28-0, 4"

This may seem like a high price to some, but I consider it a fair price based on condition.

ETA: I somehow forgot to include a photo of the fourth screw when I originally posted this.

Photo of front of trigger guard on Model 28-0.

Dave

For a 4" HP in that condition I don't believe the price is at all unreasonable. Then add that it is a Model 28 with four screws . . .

You did well!
